The Johnson Alice Foundation delivers life-saving emergency relief to communities devastated by natural disasters, conflict, and displacement across the United States and Nigeria. Since our inception, we have reached over 8,500 individuals, providing emergency shelter, food, clean water, hygiene supplies, cash assistance, and psychosocial support to families who have lost everything.
In Nigeria, we have responded to flooding in Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe states, reaching over 5,200 individuals with cash transfers, hygiene kits, and protection services for survivors of gender-based violence.
In the United States, we have supported communities devastated by wildfires in California and hurricanes in the Southeast, providing cash assistance to 1,200 displaced families and essential items to 700 households.
Despite our achievements, the crisis is far from over. Climate change is intensifying disasters, and conflict continues to displace millions. In Nigeria, over 2.6 million people remain displaced in the Northeast, while severe flooding affects 1.6 million across the country. In the USA, communities face increasingly frequent and destructive hurricanes, wildfires, and storms.
Thousands of families remain without shelter, food, or clean water. Women and children face heightened risks of violence. Many have exhausted their savings and resort to desperate measures—skipping meals or pulling children from school.
What kind of emergency assistance does the Johnson Alice Foundation provide?
Multipurpose Cash Assistance – Enabling families to buy food, medicine, shelter, and other essentials based on their immediate needs
WASH (Water, Sanitation & Hygiene) – Providing clean water, emergency latrines, and hygiene kits (soap, jerrycans, sanitary pads, water purification tablets)
Shelter & Non-Food Items (NFIs) – Distributing emergency shelter materials, blankets, bedding, kitchen supplies, and clothing
Food Security – Emergency food parcels or vouchers for families without access to food
Protection & GBV Support – Psychosocial support, safe spaces, counseling, and case management for survivors of gender-based violence
In Nigeria, our cash assistance is delivered through mobile money platforms (Paga, Opay) at $120 per month per household. **In the USA**, we provide $500 per month via prepaid debit cards or bank transfers. Assistance is tailored to meet the specific needs of each affected community.
